”I have spent the last few years collecting trash found on the streets in my neighbourhood, along with recycled magazines. Inspired by my love of fashion, I paired the two together to create a whimsical new body of work that I’ve titled TRASHION COURTURE. I believe “trashion,” be it vegetable waste from a compost collection, or plastic from a candy bar wrapper, is an art form of today. It literally stops me in the street and puts a smile on my face, while at the same time, horrifies me at the shear amount of waste we create and carelessly discard. Collecting these pieces of trash and magazines, re-using them and adding new life to them with my lens has sparked my creativity, which admittedly was somewhat dulled due to the pandemic, and has awakened a new way of seeing aesthetically, but opened my eyes to the environmental impact of consumerism.”
