The Sun Also Rises

Janet Horne Cozens began studying art at the age of two in Japan and continued after her family immigrated to Northern Ontario. She is a graduate of Music Performance from the University of Toronto and Fine Arts from the Ontario College of Art. Her work explores the relationship between the natural world and us, the viewers, using colour, texture and shape. With influences from the Group of Seven, First Nations artists and her own background as a printmaker, Cozens has developed a style that reflects not only what the viewer expects to see in these landscapes, but also the hidden influences of people on these views through the unexpected use of man-made pigments.
